Frequently asked questions

About demos, warranty, quotes, safety, and which unit fits your project.

How does a demo work?

We offer three options. A free video-call demo, where we explain how laser cleaning works and which model fits your project. Want to see the result with your own eyes? Bring your own material to our workshop in Steenokkerzeel (BE) or Altea (ES): €200 excl. VAT (up to 5 test pieces). Prefer a demo at your premises? We can plan an on-site demo: €450 excl. VAT (including the first 50 km, setup, and a demo of up to 2 hours, + €0.45/km beyond 50 km, round trip). If you purchase within 30 days of the demo, we deduct the demo fee in full from your invoice.

Does laser cleaning damage the substrate?

No. The process is non-contact: wavelength and pulse duration are tuned per material, so only the contamination layer — rust, paint, oxide — absorbs the energy and vaporizes, while the base metal, stone, or wood is left unaffected. This is confirmed by CE/TUV/SGS test reports; unlike sandblasting, there is no mechanical wear or profile loss.

What's the payback period?

With no consumables required — no abrasive media, no chemicals, no waste stream to manage — operating cost is limited to electricity and occasional maintenance. For companies switching from sandblasting or chemical stripping, payback typically falls between 8 and 18 months depending on throughput. With daily heavy-duty use — such as in shipyards or production environments — this can drop to under 6 months.

What warranty do I get?

Every machine comes with a 24-month warranty on the complete unit — the full range, parts and labor included. As the official SWT distributor, we provide direct factory warranty coverage, with no middlemen.

How quickly will I receive a quote?

After your request — or after an on-site demo — you'll receive a tailored quote within 48 hours.

Which model fits my application?

That depends on your usage frequency and the surface to be cleaned. For mobile jobs (façades, restoration, smaller industrial work), the Suitcase or Trolley Pulse (100W-1000W) is the logical choice. For continuous, high-volume production in a fixed workshop, we recommend the CW Continuous (1500W-6000W). Want to weld, cut or polish as well as clean with one unit? Then the 4-in-1 system is the right option. Not sure? Book a free video-call demo and we'll advise based on your project.

Is laser cleaning safe?

Yes, provided the right protective measures are taken. Every machine ships with safety glasses, five protective lenses and a focusing lens. During installation we provide operator training, including the necessary safety instructions (PPE, a shielded work zone). No chemicals or blasting media are involved, which makes the process safer than traditional sandblasting or chemical degreasing.

Do you operate internationally?

We operate across the Benelux, France and Spain, by appointment only. Our support is available in Dutch, French, English and Spanish.

What does 'official distributor' mean?

ECN Design is the official European distributor of SWT Laser (Wuhan) — not a reseller. That means direct factory warranty coverage, fast access to the newest models, and a direct line to the factory for technical questions or spare parts.

What materials does laser cleaning work on?

Metal (steel, aluminum, stainless steel), natural stone, brick, wood and most composites. Wavelength and pulse duration are tuned per material and contamination type, so the base surface itself is left unaffected.
