Which pulse laser wattage does your business really need?
In industrial cleaning we often hear the assumption: "The more watts, the better the result." If you are considering whether to buy a pulse laser, reality is quite different. Choosing the right power is a precise balance between cleaning speed, heat control and the type of substrate. Too much power on the wrong material can cause irreversible damage, while too little power on heavy contamination is simply too slow.
With us, you don't invest in blind wattage, but in control, efficiency and return on investment. Below you'll find which pulse laser cleaner best fits your sector.
The right power per sector: a strategic overview
🛠️ Automotive & Garages
Our advice: 300W Pulse
Why? In the automotive sector you work with a wide variety of materials: from heavy, greasy engine parts to wafer-thin sheet metal and aluminium cylinder heads. A 300W pulse laser delivers exactly the right 'punch' for effective laser rust removal and for vaporising baked-on oil and grease. At the same time, the heat input stays so low that thin body panels won't warp. A 500W laser is often overkill here and increases the risk of damaging sensitive tolerances.
🏺 Antique & Furniture Restoration
Our advice: 100W – 200W Pulse
Why? In antique restoration, speed is entirely secondary to preserving the material. Old layers of varnish, wax and dirt must be ablated in ultra-thin, controlled passes. Above 200W the laser pulses too aggressively for dry, historic wood, scorching the grain black immediately (carbonisation). With up to 200W you clean evenly, safely and with respect for the original material.
🪵 Joinery & Timber Construction
Our advice: 200W – 300W Pulse (with Top-Hat beam profile)
Why? Joiners often clean larger surfaces such as wooden beams, doors and staircases. A 300W machine works considerably faster than a light entry-level unit, yet with the right settings it won't burn through the softer growth rings of the wood. Thanks to an even energy distribution across the beam (Flat-Top), you get a clean result without deep tracks or scorch marks.
🧱 Façade Cleaning & Heritage Conservation
Our advice: 300W – 500W Pulse (High Pulse Energy)
Why? Atmospheric pollution, soot and graffiti are baked deep into the pores of stone, concrete or marble. To clean this efficiently, heat is not what matters, but the mechanical impact per pulse (the mJ value). The laser literally 'taps' the dirt loose. For historic monuments, 300W is the safe standard; for commercial façade cleaners who need to cover square metres per hour, the 500W pulse laser is the best investment.
🏭 Mould & Tool Making (High-Tech Industry)
Our advice: 100W – 200W High-Precision Pulse (JPT MOPA)
Why? Expensive injection moulds for plastic, rubber or silicone must be cleaned to a microscopic level without wearing down the sharp edges of the mould. There is zero tolerance for material removal. An ultra-precise 100W or 200W pulse laser with adjustable pulse width (MOPA) cleans the mould to the micron without affecting the metal. This saves factories costly downtime.
👨🏭 Pre- & Post-Weld Cleaning
Our advice: 200W – 300W Pulse
Why? For a perfect, reliable weld, oxide layers, mill scale and grease must be thoroughly removed beforehand. After welding, you want to remove heat tint straight away. A 200W to 300W pulse laser does the job in one smooth, chemical-free pass. The result? An X-ray-clean weld without manual grinding or harmful chemical pickling.
🌍 The "All-Rounder": why 300W is the market favourite
Unsure about the right wattage because your business takes on many different jobs? In 90% of cases a 300W professional laser cleaning machine is the smartest choice:
- Fully adjustable: the machine is powerful enough for heavier rust removal and façade work, yet with the intuitive software you can dial the power down just as easily to the subtle level of a 100W machine for delicate woodwork.
- Air-cooled & mobile: all our pulse lasers from 100W up to 500W are air-cooled, compact and easy to move for on-site jobs. Water cooling is only needed from 1000W. On top of that, the 300W offers the best power-to-investment ratio: roughly half the price of a 500W.
- Standard power supply: no three-phase power required. Our pulse lasers from 100W to 500W run single-phase on 220–230V (50/60Hz): a regular wall socket is all you need.
